Professional Edible Flower Growing 11-12th June (Or dates to be agreed)

To be held at our new THE EDIBLE FLOWER GARDEN in Budleigh Salterton, Devon EX9.

PROFESSIONAL EDIBLE FLOWER GROWING.
For one person the course is £800.
For a partnership it is £1000 (ie two people within the same company) – Call Jan if this is what you would like and I will invoice separately.

Two days in June are provisionally marked in the diary but I am happy to work to dates that suit your calendar.

This intensive course is aimed at those wanting to grow edible flowers commercially. It comprises Jan emptying her head of 20 years experience and numerous awards as the most successful independant organic edible flower grower in the UK. There is a lot to take on board and plenty of opportunities for questions and taking notes as well as information to take away.

Course is over two days 10-4 including lunch and light refreshments to cover the following topics:

• Identification and variety choice. Which flowers are edible decoration and which only suitable for medicinal use.
• Growing, where and why, covering growing materials, watering, feeding etc.
• Organic or not?
• Picking and storage.
• Food Hygiene regulations, compliance and HACCPS.
• Food Standards Agency regulations and compliance.
• SALSA if appropriate.
• Packaging and labelling.
• Chilling and postage.
• Storage for dried or preserved flowers.
• Insurance.
• Personal Plan.

This course is a one to one or one to two if two of your wish to attend at a partnership to allow for lots of personal and relevant interaction. It is designed specifically for small scale independent growers who want to sell their produce commercially either to restaurants or on line. If you have any questions please email Jan.

There are plenty of fabulous B&Bs in Budleigh Salterton, pubs and fish and chip shop, beautiful walks along the coast (including the South West Coast Path) and the fabulous new 55 hectare River Otter rewilding project to enjoy so why not make a long weekend of it!
